Ciara Hare Obituary – Car Accident: Lindenhurst teen killed in fatal Southern State Parkway crash; Three injured.
According to the New York State Police on Sunday, November 6, 2022, officers received multiple calls of a crash on the Southern State Parkway eastbound just west of exit 32, town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County.
Preliminary investigation revealed, a 2018 Subaru, driven by Matthew Whyte, 27 of Laurelton, NY, was traveling eastbound on the Southern State Parkway in the center lane and a 2004 Honda Civic was traveling in the right lane, driven by Ciara Hare, 18 of Lindenhurst, NY, police said in a press release.
According to State police, the Subaru moved from the center lane into the right lane striking the side of the Honda causing both vehicles onto the right shoulder. The Subaru spun sideways and flipped on the drivers side coming to rest against the brush and trees. The Honda struck an electric box and continued on and struck a traffic camera pole.
Whyte was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hare was pronounced dead at the scene and the two passengers in her vehicle were both transported to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) and Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) all responded to the scene to investigate.
