“I am a junior in college. I am starring in my dream role of Leading Player in Pippin. And I have just finished pouring my blood, sweat, and tears out on to the stage. Danette walked up to me with the biggest, proudest smile, and gave me the tightest hug. She then pulled back, looked me square in the eyes and said “You almost had it. You were this close!” And then she hugged me again. 😰That 20 year old was devastated. I had tried, and missed the mark. 😪 But the performer I am NOW can look back at that moment with clarity. She gave me exactly what I needed…In the gentle way that I needed it delivered. The way only a brilliant artist could perceive,” a tribute post shared via Facebook read.
