Captain Patrick Ford collapsed and was pronounced dead shortly after taking off from Chicago O’Hare International Airport en route to Columbus, Ohio.
According to reports, at about 7:59 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, Captain Ford collapsed at the controls of his American Eagle Embraer 175, just seconds after the jet had left the runway in Chicago.
There are currently no details concerning the circumstances surrounding Ford’s death, as FAA is investigating.
According to a LinkedIn profile, Patrick Ford is a Certified Flight Instructor and graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Aviation Flight Science. He has Private, Commercial Multi-engine, and Commercial Single-engine licenses as well as Instrument Rating.
He also held Certified Flight Instructor Airplane and Instrument certificates.
