Car Accident on 87th Street Today: Multi-car crash involving speeding stolen vehicle kills 2, injures 16 in Chatham.
Two people were killed and 16 others, including seven children, were injured when a car traveling at a high rate of speed down a Chicago street struck several other vehicles at an intersection on Wednesday.
Around 5 o’clock in the afternoon, a Dodge Charger was driving “at a very high rate of speed” while going the opposite way in a southbound lane in Chicago’s South Side. Superintendent of Chicago Police David Brown stated at a news conference on Wednesday.
According to Brown, the Charger entered the junction and collided with seven additional automobiles before catching fire. The vehicle’s two occupants perished.
According to him, the 16 injured people were brought to local hospitals. According to authorities, 11 persons were still being treated in hospitals as of Thursday morning, with six in fair condition and five in good condition. Hospitalized patients included a 6-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl, and a 10-month-old female. A long gun was discovered inside the Charger, which had been reported stolen in Markham, a southern suburb of Chicago, earlier on Wednesday, according to Brown.
