Beloved Red Dirt country singer-songwriter, Jake Flint from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has passed away unexpectedly, an online obituary announced on Monday, November 28.
Tragically, Jake died just some hours after his wedding, which took place on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
“With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away. I’ve tried several times today to make a post, but you can’t comment on what you can’t process,” Flint’s manager, Brenda Cline announced via a social media post.
Born in 1985 in Mounds, Okla., Flint’s introduction to playing music came when his father was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and commissioned some musician friends to teach his son to play guitar. According to the singer’s website, those beginnings led Flint to start attending bluegrass festivals, and ultimately inspired him to begin performing. His latest single, “What’s Your Name,” came out in 2020. Meanwhile, Flint has been a mainstay performer throughout Oklahoma, Texas and beyond, and he had several shows on the books for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.
The announcement of Jake’s sudden death was flooded by heartfelt tributes and condolences across social media. He will be missed by many.
“The music community lost one of the greats. Our hearts are heavy after getting that phone call today. You were definitely one of a kind Jake Flint. He was one of our favorites to have play here and to go watch his gigs at other venues and bars. Please keep his family, friends, and all of our local musicians in your prayers. You will be forever loved and missed Flint,” The Other Bar wrote in a tribute post shared via Facebook.
