“Montezuma Fire & Rescue lost a dedicated member today. Briar Awtry. Briar was a quiet leader and would do any task necessary. He took great pride in firefighting and the communities he served. He served as the chief for Barnes City Volunteer Fire Department as well as a valuable member of Montezuma Fire & Rescue. He will be missed by all. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here,” the department shared via a statement shared on Facebook.
