The girl who was killed Saturday in St. Charles during an attempted robbery was a sophomore at Liberty High School in O’Fallon, Missouri. She played soccer and was loved by her friends for her smile.
Lydia Elking, who was 15 years old and from Lake Saint Louis, was shot and killed Saturday night in a residential neighborhood near Oak Avenue and Perry Street, just east of Lindenwood University.
Lydia and a 17-year-old boy drove to the area to meet people. When the police got there, they said that two teenagers walked up to the car, said they were robbing it, and pulled out a gun, which they then used to shoot Lydia. She died at a hospital in the end.
