Scott Walton Care Flight Crash: 5 killed in Nevada medical flight crash outside Reno.
Late Friday night, a medical services plane crashed in western Nevada, killing five people.
Officials with Care Flight said that their fixed-wing Pilatus PC-12 plane went off the radar at 9:45 p.m. near Stagecoach. They later found out that the plane had crashed and that no one had survived.
There was a pilot, a flight nurse, a flight paramedic, a patient, and a family member of a patient.
Reports say that the flight lost contact with air traffic control right after the crew was told that there had been turbulence at all altitudes.
A post on social media says that Care Flight is a service of REMSA Health, which is based in Nevada, and Guardian Flight, which is based in Utah. It is not known if the plane’s crew was from Utah or Nevada.
“The National Transportation Safety Board is working with the Central Lyon Fire Department and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department to find out what caused the crash,” the post said. All Guardian and Care Flight flights, including those in Utah, have been stopped because of the crash.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will look into what happened.
