The university announced on Saturday that Jeff Ontiveros, who established home run records at Texas and still holds the record most games played while wearing a Longhorns uniform, passed away on Friday morning.
“We are saddened to hear of the passing of Jeff Ontiveros, ’02 national champion and the Longhorns’ all-time leader in games played. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” Texas Baseball tweeted.

His cause of death was not disclosed.
