Theresa Lockhart, who has been missing since Monday, was identified as the body located in Michigan’s Allegan County on Wednesday by police.
About 50 miles from where she was last seen, Theresa’s body was discovered in a “shallow grave,” according to the authorities.
Director of Public Safety for the City of Portage, Nick Armold, stated in a press conference that after Theresa’s husband allegedly committed suicide in the couple’s house, authorities discovered a note he left behind. The note included a hand-drawn map indicating the location of Theresa’s body in addition to a confession to her murder.
Theresa and Chris were having a disagreement on the night he claims he killed her, and Chris “just snapped,” according to the note and Director Armold’s account of the incident. Chris “did express guilt and plead for forgiveness” in the note he left behind, according to director Armold.
