Police confirmed Thursday that the motorcyclist killed on Wednesday in the Fayetteville collision that shut down a section of Yadkin Road was a soldier from Fort Bragg.
The motorcycle, a 2023 Kawasaki ZX636, was engaged in a collision with another vehicle around 7:35 p.m., according to police.
The driver was discovered in the street and rushed to the hospital, but he eventually passed away from his wounds.
Police recognized him as Fort Bragg resident Cooper Wolfgram, 22, on Thursday.
According to the inquiry, a 2016 Dodge Ram driven by a 26-year-old lady was turning left out of a parking lot onto Yadkin Road. Wolfgram hit the front of the truck after failing to stop in time.
According to investigators, speed does seem to have contributed to the accident.
While police cleared the area on Wednesday night, Yadkin Road was closed in both directions from Santa Fe Drive to Brookfield Road. Shortly before midnight, the road reopened.
The event is being looked upon by the FPD Traffic Unit.
