A Woonsocket man is accused of shooting a 13-year-old child, who was hurt in the process.
After a shooting, according to police, took place on Saturday near Cumberland and Locust streets, Gerald Ware, 49, is now being charged with three counts of felony assault and many gun-related offenses.
Police claim that about 2:30 p.m., Ware and a second suspect were engaged in a gunfight when a 13-year-old child in a passing car was shot in the arm or wounded in the arm by shattered glass. He was transported to the hospital to receive care for minor wounds.
A 14-year-old boy was also riding in the automobile with the child’s father, who was operating the vehicle, however neither of them sustained any injuries.
Ware was also brought to the hospital for treatment of a leg gunshot wound before being turned up to the police.
The second suspect implicated is still being sought after, according to the police.
