Friday, University of Wisconsin–Madison officials acknowledged that a student had passed away at their off-campus residence.
The student’s death on Mifflin Street was ruled an accident by the Madison Police Department.
After the passing, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Lori Reesor wrote to the UW community to offer support. Throughout the day, representatives from University Health Services and the UW Dean of Students Office knocked on doors in the area to check in with students and provide support.
In addition to Chancellor Mnookin and the university’s leadership team, Reesor added, “The Dean of Students Office is working to support the student’s family and friends. We share our collective sympathy for their loss.”
Reesor informed pupils of the various mental health resources because other students were there when the student passed away.
