Jack Reid Obituary – Cause of Death: In loving memory of Lawrenceville School Junior Jack Reid.
Jack Reid died unexpectedly from suicide last April.
A Bible and a message pointing his parents to a Google page outlining his desperation were concealed in Jack Reid’s gym shorts last April, when he was a junior at one of the nation’s most prestigious boarding schools. Jack was 17 years old. Then he committed suicide inside of his dorm room.
The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey made an uncommon admission of failure on Sunday, the day of Jack’s death, by publicly admitting that it had known Jack was being tormented by other pupils but had “tragically fallen short” of its responsibility to protect him.
“I am profoundly saddened to inform you of the tragic loss of Fourth Form student Jack Reid, who died by suicide in Dickinson House in the late hours of Saturday, April 30. On behalf of the entire Lawrenceville community, I offer sincere condolences to Jack’s family, with whom I am in regular contact. I ask that you please respect the family’s privacy as they face this most challenging time,” Stephen S. Murray wrote in a statement.
Words fall short of expressing our grief for your loss, as we mourn with family and friends for this great loss. We are truly sorry to hear of the loss of this promising being. Please accept our condolences and may our prayers help comfort you. Please receive our heartfelt condolences.
Feel free to drop condolences messages and prayers for the family and friends of the deceased as it will go a very long way at this difficult time of theirs.
