A 13-year-old boy has been charged after a horrific collision north of Brisbane claimed the lives of a teen girl and two women.
Sheree Robertson, a 52-year-old nurse from Torquay in Hervey Bay, was killed along with Kelsie Davies, 17, and Michale Chandler, 29, while traveling home from work.
Police say the teen was behind the wheel of a stolen Mercedes Benz that rear-ended a Holden carrying Davies and Chandler, forcing it onto the wrong side of the road and into Robertson’s Mazda.
The adolescent is accused of stealing the Mercedes from Dalhousie Street at 8:30 p.m. and then taking it for a joyride prior to the accident.
The adolescent from Bundaberg suffered minor foot injuries.He was brought to the hospital but later released into police custody.Three counts of hazardous operation of a motor vehicle resulting in death and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle have been filed against him.
The police were searching for a second occupant in the Mercedes, believed to be a juvenile.
First responders who raced to the scene of the accident reportedly knew the victims, indicating that the collision affected the entire small regional community.
