Daniel McCoy Obituary – Cause of Death: Longtime Wichita Business Journal reporter Daniel McCoy dies at 45.
We at the Wichita Business Journal are in deep sorrow over the weekend’s passing of our friend and longtime colleague Daniel McCoy.
On Saturday night, Daniel had an unidentified medical incident outside his house. He was 45.
Daniel was reared in Clearwater and earned degrees from Wichita State University and Clearwater High School.
Since joining the WBJ in 2008, Daniel has been our go-to source for news on manufacturing and aviation. He regarded himself as a “aviation geek,” a fan of all types of aircraft.
Daniel was a constant asset to our BizTalk podcasts, when Bill Roy (first) and I (later) would invite him for frank commentary on the most recent aerospace news. Executives from aerospace companies are reluctant to participate in unscripted podcasts and are even more reluctant to give candid responses. Daniel didn’t think twice about being honest.
For the WBJ, Daniel also reported on innovation and Koch Industries, the second-largest private company in the country, based in Wichita.
