Dave Clark Death – Obituary: Former UCET National President, Dave Clark Dies Unexpectedly: According to an online obituary on Friday, May 19, 2023, Dave Clark has passed away unexpectedly. However, cause of death was not disclosed.
Mourning his passing, UCTE – UCET wrote;
It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our National President, brother and friend, Dave Clark, who passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Brother Clark was elected National President of the Canadian Union of Transportation Employees at its 2017 convention. Dave held several union positions in various unions throughout his career; including as a union delegate and local section president. In 2011, he became the UCET Regional Vice President for the Pacific Region, a position he held until 2017. He was also the first elected national president of the private sector, which he was very proud of.
Having worked for Transport Canada, various airlines and, finally, the Vancouver International Airport Administration, Dave understood well the issues faced by our members, whether it be in the trades, safety and security, or administration.
What mattered to Dave was that the union would stay in touch with its members. “Working with members on the ground, I realised there were changes that needed to be made in the union movement to keep it current and relevant.” “As a result, Brother Clark introduced several new ways and methods for UCET to engage members who were less or less likely to be involved in the movement.”
His family was the only thing more important to him than the union movement. Our condolences go out to his wife, children, parents and siblings he loved dearly.
Rest in solidarity, Brother Clark.
