Jim Brown Obituary – Cause of Death: NFL Hall of Fame running back and actor, Jim Brown dies at 87.
Brown played as a fullback for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) from 1957 through 1965.
Brown died at his Los Angeles home on May 18, 2023, his family announced on Friday.
“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown,” Monique Brown said in a statement. “He passed peacefully last night at our LA home. To the world he was an activist, actor, and football star. To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken.”
With three MVP awards (including one for his debut campaign in 1957) and nine NFL seasons (eight of which he was a First-Team All-Pro), Brown is one of the best running backs of all time. He was selected sixth overall out of Syracuse in the 1957 NFL Draft.
