The pilot who perished in Wednesday’s catastrophic banner plane crash on Hollywood’s North Park Road has been recognized by police.
Cleanup crews were working where the pilot of a Piper PA-25 Pawnee died on Wednesday while a government inquiry into the cause of a small plane crash was underway.
Mitchell Knaus, 28, was the pilot, according to Hollywood police’s identification on Thursday afternoon.
Witnesses claim that after the horrific crash in Hollywood at around 12:45 p.m., the pilot of the single-engine Piper PA-25-235 never exited the aircraft.
The FlightAware database indicates that Kraus departed from North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines at around 12:25 p.m. It also states that the aircraft with tail number N430AB is owned by Aerial Banners.
On Thursday, an update was also given by federal officials. The National Transportation Safety Board was in charge of the investigation, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
