The police chief acknowledged that the neighbor had reported the suspect to authorities the previous evening.
At a news conference, Chief Mark Vieira revealed that an officer had been dispatched to a residence late on Tuesday night after Thomas May claimed to have discovered his neighbor, Harrison, using a ladder to enter his daughter’s bedroom.
Harrison rushed to his home, and May, 44, phoned the police.
According to the police, May asked to serve Harrison with a trespass notice, but the officer was unable to get in touch with him and departed the area.
The officer went back to Harrison’s house the following morning at 7:30 a.m. EDT to deliver the trespass notice and witnessed Harrison leave in a dark blue Buick Encore. According to the officer, Harrison motioned with his hands as if he were firing a gun in the officer’s direction.
The policeman claimed that he stopped to assist the 15-year-old who was laying on the ground and appeared to have been shot. She is May’s daughter, who was discovered shot in the head and dead in the garage.
Harrison was named as the shooter by the child, according to police, who promptly issued a “be on the lookout” warning for the man.
Police arrived at Harrison’s house and discovered Janet Harrison, 83, already dead from a head wound. She was the mother of Harrison.
According to the department, after spotting Harrison at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston police began pursuing him at around 9:30 a.m. EDT.
The suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed close to Interstate 295 after a chase through Providence, Cranston, and Johnston.
