Roxy-Mae Barber Obituary News: Schoolgirl from Grimsby North-east England Found Dead in Bedroom
Parents recall their daughter as “funny and generous” after she was tragically discovered dead in her bedroom.
Roxy-Mae Barber, 11, from Grimsby in northeastern England, was found when her father Michael attempted to wake her up for school.
The schoolgirl’s father had last spoken to her the previous evening, and according to him, their conversation appeared typical.
That same night, at about 10.30 p.m., Michael claimed to have heard a big crash but dismissed it.
Her body was tragically discovered when someone knocked on the door at 7 am.
A coroner declared that there was no proof of suicide or intentional harm during an inquiry last week.
Coroner Paul Smith came to the conclusion that although though Roxy-Mae’s death was the result of a purposeful act, this was not what she had intended.
“It was a risky act to do this, and I’m reminded that we’re dealing with the tragedy of an 11-year-old girl,” he said.
“There are simply too many unknowns to make any judgments about the situation or her state of mind at the time.
No indication of suicide or intentional harm exists.
This lack indicates that a narrative conclusion is the most fitting course of action.
“I sincerely appreciate your presence. Needless to say, you all have my sincere sorrow.
“This has been quite challenging for me as well as the other individuals here. The recollections of her will likely endure for a long time.
Roxy’s mother Tracy Woodliffe remarked during the court, “I do not believe this was suicide, but a tragic accident.”
Since then, her distraught father Michael has been unable to go back to his house.
In a memorial, he said: “I’m devastated and have been staying with my brother since Roxy’s death since I haven’t been able to return to the property where I found Roxy.
“I’ve already sold it, and my partner and I are moving in.
However, Roxy will still have a room to herself in the new house because we are bringing all of her belongings there.
She was gorgeous, sweet, humorous, and giving.
