Huey Kennedy Obituary News: 79- Years- Old Patient With Dementia of Oceans Behavioral Hospital in Hammond Found Dead After Missing For Few Hours
The death of an elderly Hammond man who went missing and was later discovered dead has prompted the Louisiana Department of Health to announce that a “health standards investigation” has been opened.
Police say Huey Kennedy, 79, went missing Saturday night after leaving Hammond’s Oceans Behavioral Hospital. According to police, he had severe dementia.
Hammond police said they didn’t think Kennedy was supposed to be outdoors when he exited the building through a side entrance during a press conference at 5 o’clock on Sunday night. It took the facility two hours to realize he was missing, according to police.
Kennedy’s stepson said at the press conference that he was probably trying to return to his native Bogalusa.
Around 7:45 o’clock later, Kennedy was discovered dead. Sunday night, according to Hammond police. There were no other information about his demise.
The investigation, according to a representative of the Louisiana Department of Health, is still ongoing.
