Last night, journalist Yashar Ali uploaded a shocking investigation to his Substack. After six years of reporting, he discovered that when the LAPD met with Church of Scientology executive Shelly Miscavige in 2013 following Leah Remini’s missing person report, the fingerprints that were taken from Shelly didn’t exactly match what was already on file.
However, the LAPD chose to cover up the discrepancy for the church rather than look into it further.
On July 8, 2013, we first reported that Leah Remini had left Scientology. A month later, in August, we reported that Remini had filed a missing person report on Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige, who had mysteriously disappeared after being a prominent member of the group.
On August 8, 2013, the LAPD declared that Remini’s allegations against Shelly were “unfounded,” but we later contacted with LAPD Lt. Andre Dawson, who revealed that Shelly had met with two of his detectives and had denied the chance to make a statement in public.
When we questioned Dawson about whether or not other Church of Scientology officials were present during the meeting, he replied, “that’s classified.”
