South Surrey Car Accident: Death toll rises to 3 following Sunday morning crash in South Surrey.
According to police, three people have died as a result of a two-vehicle collision that occurred in South Surrey on Sunday.
On Sunday, two persons were killed in the collision, while a third was critically injured. Police say the third person died from their wounds on Monday afternoon. The deceased’s names have not been made public.
The vehicles involved, a Volkswagen Golf and a Hyundai sedan—were thrown off the road and into a flooded ditch as a result of the collision. According to Surrey RCMP, the collision occurred at 2:45 a.m. in the 3300 block of 176th Street with both cars moving north.
Three people who were inside the Hyundai died, and a fourth person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said that after being taken into custody and then released pending additional investigation is the driver and only occupant of the Volkswagen. Additionally, he cannot drive.
The crash is thought to have been caused by speed and drink, according to the Mounties.
