Scott Bolduan Obituary News: New Richland Man died in a Car Crash While Traveling Southbound Lane on Highway 13. Age 58
After a deadly accident on June 21, a semi-truck driver is being criminally charged.
Darryn Turner Bullock, 35, was arrested and charged with felony criminal vehicular murder for striking and killing Scott Bolduan, 58, of New Richland in the southbound lane on Highway 13.
Witnesses testified that at around 11:00 a.m. on that day, Bullock, who was travelling northbound, had been tailgating other vehicles and tried to pass another semi truck using the left, southbound lane. Currently, we are on Wednesday, June 21.
Bullock had hired a cab driver to follow him from Albert Lea to Lake Crystal so that he could drop off a semi trailer, as stated in the court documents.
The taxi driver claims that Bullock was speeding, tailgating, and trying to pass on the right while traveling south on Highway 13.
According to the cab driver, Bullock and Bolduan were both traveling north in adjacent lanes before colliding.
Bullock told police that he and Bolduan both veered into the southbound shoulder to escape the collision, as evidenced by the facts presented in the case.
Bullock reportedly informed police that he had been on a tablet video call at the time of the accident.
Bolduan was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while Bullock was sent to an emergency room in Owatonna with non-life threatening injuries.
According to court records, he was eventually apprehended on June 22 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
On August 29, Bullock will be attending a settlement meeting in court.
