Oliver Crain Logansport, Indiana and Bryant Landis Car Accident: Driver dies in solo crash on South East River Road.
Tuesday night, a single-vehicle collision on South East River Road close to County Road 325 East resulted in the death of a man from Logansport.
At around 11:14 p.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received a call reporting a collision. According to Deputy Michael Thomison’s first inquiry, a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck had driven off the north side of the road, hit a tree, and then overturned.
24-year-old Oliver Crain, the driver, was rescued from the car by the fire department and sent to the helicopter at Logansport Memorial Hospital. Before being flown by helicopter to a trauma hospital, he was declared dead.
Bryant Landis, a Logansport resident who was a passenger in the car, declined medical attention when it was offered.
Neither the driver nor the passenger wore seatbelts. Alcohol is thought to have had a role in the occurrence as well.
Cass County deputies, the Walton Fire Department, Cass County Fire District #1, Indiana State Police, and Cass County Emergency Services all responded to the collision.
