Rebecca Blank Obituary- Cause of Death: Former University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank dies following battle with cancer.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Chancellor Emerita Rebecca M. Blank.
Rebecca Blank led the University of Wisconsin-Madison for almost a decade, through budget fights and a pandemic. On Friday, she died after fighting cancer for seven months. She was 67.
Blank is one of the longest-serving chancellors in recent UW-Madison history. He is known for allowing more students from out of state to enroll, starting a program to give low-income Wisconsin students full tuition scholarships, and leading a $4 billion fundraising campaign. She is also remembered for things like bringing the graduation ceremony back to Camp Randall Stadium.
Blank was a passionate public servant dedicated above all to making people’s lives better – and a fierce advocate for the university.
