Brilly Karen Cabrera Carchi and Diego Hernandez Burnsville Car Accident: Burnsville High School student killed in “tragic” crash; Another injured.
Authorities have verified that a single-vehicle collision in Burnsville shortly after midnight on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of one adolescent and the injuries of another.
Around 12:30 a.m., according to police captain Matt Smith, 15-year-old Diego Hernandez’s car collided with a tree in the median on E. Burnsville Parkway close to Portland Avenue.
Brilly Karen Cabrera Carchi, a 15-year-old from Burnsville who was the only passenger, passed away at the scene, according to Smith.
Hernandez, a Burnsville resident as well, was transported by paramedics with non-life-threatening wounds to the Hennepin County Medical Center.
Smith said the accident happened on a route between the teens’ houses but was unable to determine where the teenagers were going. Both teenagers attended Burnsville High School.
