Benjamin Williams Obituary – Cause of Death: Authorities identify body discovered in the Wapsipinicon River.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office has revealed the identity of the 18-year-old whose body was discovered in the Wapsipinicon River as Benjamin Williams.
The body of an 18-year-old was found in the Wapsipinicon River on Saturday, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office is now conducting an investigation.
Around 9:45 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office went to the Ben Martinsen Wildlife Area in response to a report of a missing person. When they encountered two teenage campers, they learned that their friend had vanished from the campground.
A K9 team, the Low Moor Fire Department, and a drone were among the organizations sent in to help.
An off-duty Camanche firefighter discovered the camper’s body at 10:28 a.m. in the Wapsipinicon River’s tributaries. At the scene, the person was pronounced dead.
Investigations continue.
