The James Madison University students murdered in a late-night car accident in Hardy County, West Virginia, have been named as John “Luke” Fergusson of Richmond, Virginia, Nicholas Troutman of Richmond, Virginia, and Joshua Mardis of Williamsburg, West Virginia.
Three sophomores—Fergusson, a media arts and design major, Troutman, a business management major, and Mardis, a communication studies major—were killed in a car accident on Thursday night close to the West Virginia-Virginia state boundary. Two additional students were badly hurt in the collision.
The 19-year-old students were reportedly riding in a car on Route 259 close to Wardensville on Thursday night when, for an unspecified cause, the car veered off the road and collided with a tree.
At the scene, doctors determined that Troutman, Mardis, and Fergusson had all died from blunt force trauma.
The anonymous pupils that were left were sent in critical condition to a local hospital.
