Chrissy Rouse Death – Obituary: On the first lap of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship race at Donington Park on Sunday, Chrissy Rouse, a rider from Newcastle, crashed severely and was inevitably hit by a racer who was immediately behind her. He had a severe head injury.
He received quick trackside care before being taken to the circuit medical center after the race was stopped.
Prior to being sent to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital in Nottingham for additional evaluation and treatment, where he underwent an emergency neurosurgery procedure, he was stabilized at the medical facility and placed in a medically induced coma.
However, the 26-year-old succumbed to his wounds and died quietly yesterday afternoon in the hospital, accompanied by his family.
The family of Chrissy expresses gratitude to the marshals and medical staff who attended to him with such competence and care and requests privacy as they try to come to terms with their tragic loss.
In order to fully investigate the facts of the unfortunate accident, the coroner, police, and the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board are cooperating.
