Alex Hamzy and Dustin Demonte Obituary: Two Bristol police officers killed in response to a domestic disturbance.
Bristol Police Sgt. Dustin Demonte and Officer Alex Hamzy were shot and killed in the line of duty on Wednesday night. A third officer, Alec Iurato was also shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
State police said Thursday that the Connecticut police officers who were fatally shot on Wednesday appear to have been faked into going to a house by a false 911 call.
According to state police, the call came in at around 10:29 p.m. on Wednesday. According to authorities, a suspect “immediately encountered” the cops upon their arrival, and “guns were fired.”
Suspect Nicholas Brutcher, 35, was killed, and his brother, 32-year-old Nathan Brutcher, was injured.
Sgt. Demonte leaves behind a pregnant wife and two beautiful children.
