Charlestown, NH Car Accident: NH man killed in crash involving bear, two cars in Charlestown.
The deceased victim in a fatal crash involving a bear and two vehicles in Charlestown on Thursday night is only identified as a 20-year-old New Hampshire man.
The crash happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Route 12 in Charlestown, New Hampshire.
According to police, a bear was struck by a Ford Focus being driven by a 17-year-old Charlestown woman as it crossed the street. In order to examine the “severe disabling damage” to the vehicle, the driver and two passengers, a 17-year-old Charlestown boy and a 20-year-old North Walpole man, got out of the vehicle.
The Focus was rear-ended by a Volvo S60 being driven by a 59-year-old Claremont man at that point, who also struck the 20-year-old who was standing outside the vehicle.
According to the police, the 20-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. The 17-year-old girl was transported to the hospital by her family because she had minor injuries.
Investigations are ongoing.
