Vanessa Marcotte Obituary: Angelo Colon-Ortiz pleads guilty to killing Google employee who went missing while jogging near her mother’s Massachusetts home in 2016.

On Wednesday, a delivery driver admitted to second-degree murder on charges related to the death of a Google employee from New York who vanished while out for a run six years ago close to her mother’s Massachusetts home.

Vanessa Marcotte, 27, was found dead on August 7, 2016, in a wooded area a half-mile from her mother’s home in the small town of Princeton, some 40 miles west of Boston. At first, Angelo Colon-Ortiz had pled not guilty to murder.

In August 2016, Marcotte, a Google employee from New York, went for a walk while visiting her mother in Princeton. Her body was discovered on August 7 in the woods off Brooks Station Road, close to her mother’s house, after she failed to return home. Less than a mile from her mother’s house, her charred and partially naked body was discovered, according to investigators.
