Car Accident Campton Hills: Two killed, Two injured in Campton Hills crash involving Lilly Lake Elementary School bus.
The Lexus and the school bus collided on Empire Road in Campton Hills, Illinois, between Burlington Road and Route 47, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Kane County officials, a 2013 Lexus SUV was driving east on Empire Road when it collided with the rear of a school bus carrying 31 children and one driver. Students from Lilly Lake Elementary School were on board the bus, which was operated by Central Community Unit School District 301.
According to the police, there were four occupants in the Lexus at the time of the collision. The driver, an 18-year-old Elgin man, was transported with non-life threatening wounds to Delnor Hospital.
Both the driver and the backseat passenger, a 19-year-old Campton Hills man and a 20-year-old Campton Hills passenger, were declared dead at the site.
According to authorities, a 17-year-old South Elgin resident who was riding in the back seat had life-threatening injuries and was brought to Delnor Hospital before being flown to Lurie Children’s Hospital.
Both the bus driver and any pupils on board the school bus were unharmed. According to county officials, all of the students were reunited with their families and released right away.
