Byron Greff was the last of 158 Canadian soldiers killed in the war in Afghanistan.

Byron, a 28-year-old master corporal with the Edmonton-based 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, was returning to Afghanistan after a brief trip home to see Brielle’s birth.

Days later, when a suicide bomber drove his explosive-packed car into an armored transport bringing troops through Kabul, Byron and 20 other people were killed. He was the 158th and final Canadian soldier to perish in the Afghan war.
