Negaunee Car Accident: Victims identified in fatal Negaunee crash.
The deceased victim in a Friday morning accident in Negaunee is now identified as a 16-year-old female passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash.
According to the Negaunee Police Department, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Friday, the department was dispatched to a personal-injury accident at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Teal Lake Avenue.
Upon officers arrival at the location, preliminary investigations revealed a black Subaru Impreza, driven by an 18-year-old female with a 16-year-old passenger, was traveling north on Teal Lake Avenue when it disregarded a flashing red light at the intersection.
The Subaru was subsequently hit by a semi-logging truck being driven by a man, 27, who was going east on U.S. 41.
The Subaru’s driver needed to be freed from the car, according to the Negaunee Fire Department.
According to authorities, the Subaru’s driver and passenger received serious injuries at the scene and were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday, police announced one fatality, a 16-year-old female.
The semi’s driver was unhurt.
