Dr. Stokes was the author of a neuroscience blog, ‘The Brain Box,’ where he shared his research and commented on other neuroscience topics. He was also the co-host of ‘Brain Metrics on Nature’.
On Sunday, December 18, 2022, Dr. Stokes announced his 2-year battle with cancer, via a tweet; “Hi folks, I’m afraid it’s time for me to say goodbye. Not just leaving Twitter, but the whole show. I’ve been battling cancer last 2 years,” Dr. Stokes tweeted.
Furthermore, he said he has just few days left.
“…but now only have a few days left now. Thank you wonderful people, I leave this crazy world with much love in my heart,” he wrote.

Stokes graduated with honors from the University of Melbourne in 2003 and moved to the UK where he received his PhD from the University of Cambridge. He began working in the Brain and Cognition Laboratory at St John’s College, Oxford. In 2012, he was awarded a Fellowship with the title of University Research Lecturer.
