Car Accident in Boca Raton Yesterday: Two killed, one injured in Glades Road crash.
Deputies reported that a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in two fatalities and one other person receiving critical injuries.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), the Nissan Rouge’s driver, Daniel Polo, 36, and passenger, Elizabeth Polo, 66, were traveling east on Glades Road as they approached the Turnpike entrance. At that point, Boynton Beach resident Alexander Spandau, 29, was operating a Ram 1500 and was traveling westbound as he approached the Turnpike entrance.
Spandau, the driver of the Ram, entered the southbound turn lane, crossed the median, and veered into oncoming eastbound traffic for an unidentified cause, according to investigators.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Ram struck the Nissan’s front end. When the Ram hit, it twisted 90 degrees and pushed the Nissan backward.
Elizabeth Polo, the Nissan’s passenger, was reportedly already dead when emergency personnel arrived. Spandau, the Ram’s driver, and Daniel Polo were both transported to the Delray Medical Center, but Spandau had grave physical injuries and Daniel was already dead when they arrived.
