Meredith Car Accident: Driver hospitalized following fiery crash on the Midland Highway.
A car and a truck carrying hay crashed on a Victorian highway, starting a grassfire in a nearby paddock. The driver was taken to the hospital.
After the crash on the Midland Highway in Meredith at 1:35 p.m., the driver was taken to Geelong University Public Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the fire was put out. The fire, which started when the car hit the truck head-on, burned the car to the ground.
The fire spread to a paddock next to the highway, so officials told people to stay aware of the danger.
Six fire trucks went to the scene, and by 2:20 pm, the fire was out.
Police have warned that traffic in the area will be slow for a while.
