According to social media statements from the relevant agencies, the search for a missing Connecticut police officer who was last seen diving in the Bahamas on Friday has been discontinued.
The U.S. Coast Guard Seventh District, which was helped in the search by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, tweeted that Ryan Proulx was last seen diving on Friday at the Bimini Barge Wreck, 1 12 miles west of Bimini Inlet.
The Coast Guard announced on Sunday that the search was completed after spending more than 673 square miles and 612 hours looking for leads.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the Proulx family,” Lt. Cmdr. Matt Spado, Coast Guard liaison officer wrote in a tweet. “The decision to suspend the active search efforts pending further development is one we never take lightly.”
