Canmore Car Accident: One dead in 2-vehicle crash on Highway 1A near Canmore.
Sunday morning, a “serious” crash between two cars east of Canmore, Alberta, killed one person and stopped traffic in both directions on Highway 1A.
As of 6:30 p.m., the highway was open again, but the RCMP is still looking into what happened.
Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said the crash happened just after 7 a.m. on Sunday, about four kilometers east of Canmore. There was a sedan and an SUV in the accident.
EMS said that one driver, a 35-year-old man from Calgary, died at the scene and the other, a 54-year-old man from Exshaw, Alta., was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Both ways of traffic were stopped for several hours.
