Dupo, Illinois Shooting: On Sunday, a police officer was shot in Dupo, Illinois, and as of a statement by a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, the suspect remains at large.
According to Master Sergeant Brad Clossen, authorities are currently responding to the 700 block of McBride Avenue, a residential area where the shooting took place.
According to a police source, the Dupo officer sustained gunshot injuries to both the neck and shoulder and was promptly transported to a hospital in the St. Louis region for medical attention.
As previously stated by Clossen, authorities are aware of the suspect’s identity, but they have yet to capture the individual.
Footage from the scene depicts a sizable police presence, including SWAT officers and an armored vehicle.
The road has been closed off as part of the ongoing investigation.
Details regarding the severity of the officer’s injuries and the circumstances that led to the shooting have not been released.
It should be noted that this village is situated in Southern Illinois, approximately four hours south of Joliet.
Several police department units are halting the flow of traffic on the interstate that leads to the trauma center located in St. Louis City, Missouri. Currently, all traffic heading westbound is being stopped.
