A guy was taken into custody on Friday in Old Forge by a large group of federal, state, and local law officials, days after the discovery of human remains thought to be those of long-missing restaurateur Robert Baron Sr.
Powell’s office made the announcement that he will attend a press conference about the Baron homicide investigation at 5:30 p.m. at 4:16 p.m.
Around 4 o’clock, police executed an arrest warrant at 3 Foundry St. Law enforcement announced, “Justin Schuback, we have a warrant for your arrest,” as they approached.
A man wearing a red sweater was then escorted away by a law enforcement officer in tactical gear brandishing a long pistol.
The arrest’s specifics were not made public right away by the police, and Mark Powell, the district attorney for Lackawant to County, did not immediately respond to a message left for him.
The date follows this week’s finding of human remains that are allegedly Baron’s. Baron, 59, was last seen in front of Ghigiarelli’s Restaurant, located at 511 S. Main St. in Old Forge, at around 11 p.m. on January 25, 2017.
2017 saw the discovery of evidence of an assault inside Ghigiarelli’s, including Baron’s blood, his teeth, and indications of an attempt to clean the blood with home cleaners.
A few days later, with blood stains inside, police discovered Baron’s 2006 Hyundai Elantra parked in the 100 block of Howard Street. According to officials, the car may have been moved in the days prior to its discovery because it had significant mud on the tires and underside.
Years of open discussion in Old Forge regarding Schuback’s alleged involvement in the Baron inquiry led to the first public disclosure of this information in 2018.
