After a two-week break, Hoda Kotb returned to co-anchoring NBC’s “Today” show and informed the audience that her daughter was ill.
Kotb announced at the beginning of Monday’s show that her three-year-old daughter Hope had been in the hospital for “a little more than a week,” including “a few days” in the intensive care unit. She withheld details about her daughter’s exact health condition.
“I am very happy that she is back home. She is back home,” Kotb added, breaking down in tears. “We are keeping a careful eye on her since I was waiting for that day to arrive. I just feel so joyful.
Savannah Guthrie, Kotb’s co-anchor, joined the morning program once more on Monday after departing mid-show last week due to a Covid-19 diagnosis. Kotb praised the medical staff at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York as well as Guthrie for her support.
