The murders of Pamela Hutchinson in Florida and David Riess in Minnesota in 2018 are examined in NBC’s “Dateline The Lady at The Bar,” which highlights how strikingly similar they were. As the authorities started looking into both incidents, they discovered that they were the result of a single woman, David’s wife, who had murdered Pamela after killing her husband in order to take her identity.
The terrible double homicides sparked a large nationwide manhunt for the killer, which on April 19 of last year came to an end in a bar.
Pamela Hutchinson, a 59-year-old native of Bradenton, reportedly traveled to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, on April 3, 2018, to assist a friend with scattering her husband’s ashes on Sanibel. On April 9, a hotel employee ultimately found her death in room 404 at the Marina Village at Snug Harbor. Pamela would have been discovered sooner by hotel staff, but according to records, no one attended her room after a caller purporting to be her on April 6 extended her stay by three additional days.
Although they were unable to pinpoint the precise moment of her passing, authorities suspected it happened on April 5 between 7:46 and 8:34 p.m.
