The victim of a fatal shooting in Springfield on Friday night has been named by authorities as a 25-year-old West Springfield man.
The man shot and murdered on Springfield’s Caldwell Drive on Friday, March 10, has been identified as 25-year-old West Springfield resident Jahvante Perez. According to Jim Leydon, a spokesman for the Hampden County District Attorney, Jordan Cabrera, 25, of Chicopee, was detained in connection with the fatal shooting.
Springfield police were called to a report of a shooting victim at a Cadwell Drive house on Friday soon after 7 o’clock. Perez was discovered by police with a gunshot wound, according to officials.
Perez was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he eventually died of his injuries.
Police discovered Cabrera at the shooting scene and detained him in connection with it. According to authorities, Cabrera has already been charged with murder.
Cabrera was charged on Monday in Springfield District Court and is being detained without the option of posting bail at this time. On April 12, he is expected back in court.
