A 21-year-old lady was killed in a collision yesterday in Blaxland, and a Penrith man has been charged as a result.
It was discovered that the 54-year-old truck driver was an ineligible one. Following reports that the 21-year-old had been hit by a truck, emergency services were rushed to the Great Western Highway, close to the intersection of Layton Avenue, at Blaxland, just after 2.15pm yesterday.
The woman, who was reportedly on the footpath at the time, was attended to by paramedics from NSW Ambulance, but she passed away on the spot.
A crime scene was created, and an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident was started by officers from the incident Investigation Unit and the Blue Mountains Police Area Command.
The 54-year-old truck driver was not hurt and was brought to the hospital for required testing before being taken to Katoomba Police Station, according to a Police spokesperson.
He was accused of “dangerous driving causing death – driving in a dangerous manner,” “driving a car while ineligible,” and “negligent driving (causing death).”
