Days after they and another hiker, who also perished, went missing inside a Kane County slot canyon, a second hiker’s body was discovered there on Wednesday.
The second hiker’s body, identified as Jeff Watson, was discovered, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, south of the Utah-Arizona state boundary. Watson’s body was discovered one day after the late-Tuesday discovery of Bill Romaniello, another hiker.
A three-person group from the Tampa area entered the Utah and Arizona-bound Buckskin Gulch slot canyon on Monday morning, including Watson and Romaniello.
At the same orthopedic clinic in Tampa, the three guys all shared a job. According to his biography, Watson, an orthopedic surgeon and U.S. Air Force Academy alumnus, received the outstanding teacher award for the Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape course.
