If you know me, you know how important my mother is to me. She was an incredible cook, a loving mom of three, a caring grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of two. She was warm and welcoming, and she wouldn’t let you leave her house without a full stomach. She was nearly 92 years old, but her sense of humor was still sharp as ever. Her voice was distinct, and I know a lot my friends still laugh about the way she yelled my name. When I opened my first funeral home, her and my father were extremely supportive and hands-on with the business. She hand-made deli platters for every family we served for thirty years, and she and my father would frequently discuss new ideas for the funeral home. All five of her grandchildren were dropped off to grandma’s daycare without question. She would drop anything to look after the kids when we needed her most, and she was so proud of them. She was a dedicated grandmother who attended every graduation, every recital, and every game. She enjoyed traveling up to Fordham nearly every weekend in the Fall to watch football games and spend time with her family. She was incredibly selfless and would do anything for the people in her life. My mother was tough as nails and fought until the end. We are saddened by her passing, but hopeful that she is finally at peace with my father.
Her viewing will take place at the Oliverie Funeral Home Jackson location on Monday, April 10 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM. The funeral mass will be April 11 at St. Aloysius Church in Jackson at 10AM.
Feel free to drop condolences messages and prayers for the family and friends of the deceased as it will go a very long way at this difficult time of theirs.
